Lense coatings (1 Viewer)

I'm currently shopping for a used set of Swarovski SLC 10x42 binos and was wondering if anyone has seen a "timeline" for when the lens coatings were improved and the name of the coatings for the particular model in question; say from the year 2000 to present day?

Here is how the SLC has changed from the start, from my notes.

First year of the SLC was 1995, and di-electric prism coatings (Swarobright) started in 2002.

The SLC Neu in 2004, with new armor change until 2010 the last year of production.

In 2007 the last coatings change for the SLC was the addition of Swaroclean - Easy to clean coatings.

There may have been another change in 2009, new Swarotop, added to all of the EL's and SLC's.

I hope this helps, some of these dates may be off, but should be close.
Good luck with your search, newer is better.

Jerry,

Thank you for sharing your notes, I appreciate the help.

Perhaps you or the others here can help me with one more question: What digit(s) in a Swarovski's serial number determines the year of manufacture?

Add 30 to the 1st 2 numbers of SN for the year of manufacture. The next 2 disclose the week of the year it was made.
