Fungus on horse manure (1 Viewer)

Birding for fun
Any help identifying this fungus I came across yesterday, protruding from a large pile of horse manure. Many thanks for any assistance.

Hi Jono,

I would have thought it's Panaeolus semiovatus, the black spores we can see on the stem, egg-shaped cap and tendency to grow directly on dung are all typical.

P.S. In future if you flip one over to show us the underside you'll have a better chance of an ID, though I understand you probably didn't want to get your fingers dirty with this collection :)
