problem with focus (1 Viewer)

i've just bought a pentax smc fa 80-320mm lens for my k100d and i'm having a bit of a problem. I will not focus on objects far away. It's seems to be anything more then 100m.
Can it be adjusted or have i wasted my money?
Cheers.

Usually it can be adjusted - sounds to me like there is something stuck in focus gearing. Is it related to a certain focal length or is it the same throughout the zoom range? Can you make it focus manually? Is AF reliable at closer distance? Was the lens new or second-hand?

Thanks Ilkka.
I managed to get it sorted. Somebody on a photography forum suggested that i put it in manual focus that force the focus wheel past the minimum. It seemed a bit brutal but it worked.

I have the 80-320 and have had no problems with the focusing although it does tend to hunt around (but thats Pentax for you;))

If the lens was second-hand then it may well not have seen a lot of use recently, hopefully youv'e managed to get it sorted permanantly, for the money its an excelent bit of kit.

heres some shots from it;
