Panasonic GH3 (1 Viewer)

Olympus is the only company that has actually announced anything: a 300 f4

Niels

Edit: I think there is a 300-800 available for m4/3 from Sigma, if you can imagine carrying around that much!

Back in the park yesterday on a not-so-sunny day and cool.
Tried the Nikon 80-200/2.8 AF lens on the GH3 and the Panasonic 100-300 mm Lens.
Neil.

ps 3/4/5 with the Nikon and 1/2 with the Panasonic

How well did the AF work on the Nikon lens? One of the options I am thinking of is buying a Canon or Nikon lens with equivalent range at the long end to the 100-300. But I don't want to manually focus the lens.

No AF with the Nikon unfortunately Paul. That's the limitation of Micro Four Thirds at the moment , there are no great teles.
The 100-300 mm is not bad though and it's easy to carry around your neck all day.
Neil.

Wait until the Olympus Pro 300mm f4 lens gets released next year. As it is a native m43 lens, it should give great results and finally unleash the full tracking capabilities of the EM-1 for moving objects at a distance.

That's what I was afraid of. Looks like my next camera upgrade will depend on who comes out with a better 300 zoom first. Looks like it may be Olympus. I like the size and portability of the MFT so a FF is out of the question. Until then I'll have to make due with the GH3 and 100-300 combo.

Thanks for the feedback

I've just mixed a video from the GH3 and the GoPro3 - Black Edition. Resolution is 1280x720 as that was what was set in the GoPro3.

And here are a few stills from the GH3 and the 100-300 mm lens. I'm still happy with this combo for walking around.
For the Rock Thrush and Crested Myna I used the little Velebon Tripod in the first photo.

Excellent shots Neil, especially the Crested Myna. Did you shoot RAW or JPEG? If JPEG, what were your settings for contrast, saturation and sharpness?

Thanks
Paul
