A visit at dusk
130. Nightjar - Began calling at 9.15 and in the next 15 mins. gave a brilliant display of calling, wing clapping and eventually landing on a low horizontal branch within 50 yds. offering excellent full profile views.
131. Bittern - just to round off a great evening, as we drove back to Walberswick one low over the car.

Westleton Heath, for an afternoon walk

134. Woodlark one amongst the grass close to a main footpath. Another bird that took way too long to make my life list.

139. Puffin - still some around, back and forth at sea with sand eels.
140. Arctic Tern - plenty of active nests still and a chance to check out juvenile plumages.
141. Roseate Tern - several close to the path on Inner Farne.

Tuesday 5th August
Budle Bay
142. Tree Sparrow - 1 in the garden.

Wednesday 6th August

143. Tawny Owl - 1 calling in the early hours.

Thursday 7th August

145. Stilt Sandpiper - the bird obligingly stayed until I was able to visit.

153. Firecrest - found 1 with a mixed feeding party, after several minutes joined by a second bird.
