Dragonfly ID

Hi,

Can anyone ID the dragonfly I photographed at Thursley Common, which is a boggy heath. Its really quite small compared with other dragonflies, and was photographed today.

Hi Helios,

The blue eyes, mostly green dorsal surface and light blue pruinescence towards the end of the abdomen point to an Emerald Damselfly (presumably Common Emerald Damselfly at Thursley ?). The wings being held open and separated are apparently a feature too. I'm saying apparently 'cos I haven't seen one yet and I'm dead envious ! Nice one.

Thanks!

Found it in my book. Didn't think to look at the damselflies as I thought they always had their wings closed at rest.

I would agree with Emerald Damselfly as well, as far as I am aware the open wing stance is fairly typical of an Emerald
