Big Scoter Movement (1 Viewer)

Apparently there is a big Scoter movement across the North of England at the moment. Friends have had them in Blackburn, Newcastle, York and Morpeth whilst big numbers of Teal and Wigeon have been heard in East Anglia. I have just had Wigeon in East Yorkshire. A great chance to make some additions to the garden or Lockdown lists.

Finished with 6 flocks of Common Scoter, 2 flocks of wigeon and 1 flock of Teal plus Curlew and Oystercatcher

Is there a bank holiday coming up, oh sorry, Scoter. ;)

Had another 6 flocks tonight. Seems to be a broader front with birds in the south, whereas last night it was just the north. Interesting the timings - I seem to be 30 mins after York and 10 mins before Flamborough.

No luck for me either. Discourse on the North Wales WhatsApp group suggests there's been a sizable clear out of Scoters from the North Coast (Colwyn Bay, Llanddulas etc) over the past couple of days.
