While I was listening to all the Canada Geese this morning, I got thinking about how much the sound of the geese flying always thrills me and then I began to think about other bird calls that mean something special to me. The most obvious one is the cry of the Loon, probably the best symbol of the north woods. Unfortunately a sound I haven't heard in quite awhile. Common and Red-throated Loons pass through here on migration and don't usually do any calling. Another great one to hear is the White-throated Sparrow. To me, that's the sound of a Canadian Spring.
Does anyone else have any bird calls to add to the list?
Then there's all the other outdoor sounds, the Spring Peepers, the Coyotes in mid-Summer!
