Hello this is my first post on this forum.
I have spent hours searching on this forum and others and am just as confused as when I started.
I just started recording birds with my iPhone and am surprised how much I enjoy it. My question is this... what equipment do I need for recording for the purpose of playback. I have a fixed budget <300$. Or maybe <400$ I can Id birds with my iPhone recording but it’s impossible to do playback as the volume of the bird calls is to low. I need something that makes a loud recording, loud enough for the birds to respond.
Next question... is this something that I can succeed at without an external mic? Which recoder has the best onboard mic that I can afford?
The recorders I’m looking at are the zoom h5 and the Olympus ls12
I would appreciate the advice of anyone who has been able to do successful playback
