Hello everyone

I am Jo, I live in Hackney in East London, currently sharing the house with one of my three grown up sons. I have been working between London and Holland for many years, and have taken in increasing interest in the birds in my neighbourhood during my working from home walks along the Lea River.

Today I spotted a white goose amongst a flock of Canada geese and I wonder if anyone can tell me what it is. I want it to be a snow goose but that seems so unlikely, also it was not completely white and I didnt notice any black tail feathers. Maybe a juvenile ?

I have just tried to attach a picture - I hope it worked.

Anyway, I look forward to learning more from you all

Jo

Hi Jo and a warm welcome to you from all the Staff and Moderators.

I can't see it too clearly, but it does seem to have a short bill, which would make it a goose and I think it's probably from farmyard stock, and either escaped, or is the result of interbreeding after ancesters escaped in the past.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I look forward to hearing your news.
