Seen here 4°24'45" N 38°16'37" E Ethiopia near the Kenya border

Well, I have never seen Gillett's. But your bird looks like the couple of Foxy Larks I've seen. It has a rufous wing panel (circled below) which Foxy has and Gillett's is said by the books not to have.
