Your Most Recent "Life" Bird (5 Viewers)

Saw my first Dickcissel today at Reservoir Ridge Natural Area in Fort Collins, where several of the birds seem to be settling in for the season as part of their large incursion westward this year.

A Canyon Wren in Millard Canyon in Pasadena last week. Singing loudly on the canyon side, but responded to a recorded call and flew down for a look at me. Really beautiful song.

Roseate Spoonbill in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

I found this bird Saturday morning while kayaking around the Conejohela Flats on the Susquehanna River.

It is the first sighting of the species in the state since a moribund bird was found in 1968.

Only new to all this, but this week I saw my first Little Owl in Lunt just outside of Crosby.

Nothing spectacular for some of you guys ha ha but a 'first' for me :)

Next holiday I'm taking my list with me!

Wren-like Rushbird, after some 250 in Peru including Golden-backed Mountain Tanager, Scarlet-banded Barbet, Cerro Azul Antbird, White-masked Antbird, Long-whiskered Owlet, Pale-billed Antpitta and Marvellous Spatuletail.

Don't worry about that. The good thing about being new to it is the number of birds you can see for the first time in a quick space of time.

Cheers Chris - you're right, I guess because my list is sooooo small then I have the wonder of seeing many birds for the first time. In a way I'm lucky!

It's like somebody hearing a great piece of music, or watching a great film for the first time - an experience that cannot be replicated :t:

I spend couple nights at Ristisaari - island in eastern Gulf of Finland - and I manage to get two lifers: Red-throated Diver and Curlew Sandpiper.
