Hi all

Could someone help with this ID. Have checked our book several times and not sure what this bird could be?

Photo does not show too well colours - head was fairly dark, near to black and front appeared quite white. Bird continually flicked it's tail.

Sighted on marsh land that led to the sea on the coast at Cabo De Gata.

thank you in advance

thank you - we did look at that in the book but read they are only glimpsed as they move into the bushes. This one stayed visible moving along the fence for several minutes at a time before going into the bushes then back to the fence.

they are often frustrating to see clearly in bushes, but they do sometimes come out, you had a nice view.

Having lived amongst them for several years I have noted that Sardinian Warblers only dive into the bushes and stay in hiding in late spring when they are breeding. The rest of the year they spend a lot of time in the open, feeding on the ground or in olive/almond trees and they are very easily photographed in the winter months when there are fewer leaves and weeds to hide amongst, and they mix in with Blackcaps, Black Redstarts and Finches in cultivated fields and gardens.
