pewee or phoebe? (1 Viewer)

Saw this in upper Manhattan, NY, two days ago.

I want to say it's an Eastern phoebe, from the buff yellow belly and dark bill, but that big head is making me think eastern wood pewee.

He was in the forest, but the Hudson River was about 75 meters away. It was quite windy, so he was huddled in the tree, not necessarily pumping his tail or making any calls, just trying to get under shelter.

Phoebe or pewee? or am I totally off the mark?

Its a Great-crested flycatcher.

Both phoebe and pewee are flycatchers so you weren't far off.

:eek!:

Okay, on the one hand, that's great, because that's a new life bird, and another halfway-decent pic for the collection...

...on the other hand, the count is 0 and 2.

Thanks Silverwolf!
