Hi all, I always get confused when I see an immature hawk in Bergen County NJ. I think this is an immature Broadwing but would like your opinions. They are not terribly uncommon here during migration but neither are Red Shoulders. or is it something else? Thanks in advance

Broad-winged is correct. Note the solid brown (not barred) wings, blotchy streaks across the belly and on the sides of the breast (Red-shouldereds typically have thinner streaks all the way across the breast), and wide dark and light brown bands on the tail (Red-shouldereds show thinner light brown bands).
