Red-Tailed Hawk (1 Viewer)

Here is a painting of a Red-Tailed Hawk I did. I am a trainer of this bird. Because of his injury 12 yrs ago as a juvenile he was deemed unreleasable. He is now used as an educational steward at the nature preserve where I volunteer.

Thank you for the nice compliments. I use acrylics. It was painted on a gessoboard. Here is another one I did of the same bird after the first one.

I really like how you capture the shape of the hawk so precisely in the first pic. Great details of the feathers too!
 
Thank you! I love your sketches. Your photography is awesome. Seeing wildlife from so far is a real learning experience since I have not traveled much.
 
Excellent pieces! How great to have access to such a subject as part of your volunteer work. I go to our local zoo to sketch on occasion. Now that the weather is getting warmer, it's time to get down there again.
