In the continued absence of most things resembling a bird of any consequence, and fed up writing “nowt of note”, I abandoned daily entries. The month ‘happened’ on its first day:

1: SPOTTED FLYCATCHER (briefly, in a.m.), Chiffchaff, Cuckoo (foy; heard). Wheatear ♂ (in a’noon). ***NIGHTJAR*** ♀ (1st record for the site) flew W along fence, into grazing meadow, when flushed and flew further W.
