Mealworms? (1 Viewer)

I believe "them" in your question refers to mealworms?
When do most people start to feed mealworms?

I keep food in my mealworm container so the worms can eat whenever or whatever their stage. A couple of days before I put the mealworms out for the birds, I separate the fattest in another container and fatten them further with carrots.

Hope that helps.

I think the O.P might mean when do you feed the mealworms to birds. Don't know about in the U.S but in the UK you can buy them dried which is convenient. If it is this, I feed them when it's hard for the birds to find insects eg when it's been snowing. Soak them for 24hrs first though. I have Robins taking them from my hand but if they are left dried the Robins don't want to know.

Thanks will get some!

I had not thought of that. I was a little disappointed in the response to dried mealworms, so I will definitely soak some tomorrow.
I got hold of 10 tubs of them for only £1 a tub, so I have plenty. They were from a cheap shop at the seaside (Skegness).
Fingers crossed.
