Can someone please confirm these are Thick-billed Seed-Finch (male & female)? Taken near Manuel Antonio Costa Rica in January.
Thanks
Chris

First does look more like a female Blue Grosbeak. Blue-black would be more reddish-brown and with a larger, dark bill.
The other is yes, a male Thick-billed Seed-Finch.

Looks like Blue Grosbeak or Indigo Bunting - probably Blue Grosbeak for the first bird.

Thick-billed Seed-Finch for the second bird.
