add a directionnal microphone on Itouch/Iphone? (1 Viewer)

I've heard that new Itouch 4G has much better recording capacity than the previous generations....does it mean it could be effectively be used to record the occasional odd bird, for later ID? what's about adding a microphone (directional) to it? Maybe I am just dreaming, but the idea to have field guides+bird songs+recording capacity would make this thing my favorite birding tool!
