birding sites orange county (1 Viewer)

hi guys, planning a family holiday to visit family in orange county at the end of may 2009.
as birding may be limited and i don't drive, does any one no any good birding sites and what key species to look out for cheers jason :t:

were staying in costa messa ca 26262

That time of year will be awesome. In order of my preference:

1. Bolsa Chica - raptors (frequently falcons and ospreys ) , reddish egret (vagrant) and savannah sparrow are favorites, waders, loons
2. Upper Newport Bay - raptors, rails, waders, ducks
3. San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary -white tailed kites, ducks, yellow warblers, woodpeckers, waders, bobcats if you're lucky
4. Santa Ana River close to ocean

None except 4 are walking distance per se but worth getting to!
