Interesting roadkill in Aberdeenshire

This Pine Marten appeared on a roadside between Banchory and Westhill, in Aberdeenshire, earlier this week. They have been spreading down Deeside for a number of years, but even so, it is quite an interesting record, being so far east.

Apologies for photo quality, but I only had my mobile with me and it's a busy road so I didn't have long.

A nice (but very unfortunate) find.

Coming down from Grantown over the hills to Perth in spring I saw two, the furthest South one being at least ten miles South of the Glenshee ski centre, so they are spreading that way as well. Presumably turning up as roadkill reflects increasing numbers?

Maybe, though mustelid roadkills always peak at this time of year as they disperse widely around about now.
