Conservation is our Future
The Pyewipe Estate is on the West side of Grimsby as you come in from the A180, It has a rich list of Birds to see ,Especially on the Humber mud flats where on the right Day Tide permitting you cannot see the Mud for Birds, The most famous find to Date was an American Robin ( The date escapes me)which made it self comfortable in a bush on the Trading estate opposite Great Coats Motors,
It was a chilly start to my trip to the Pyewipe, arriving there at about 08:00 i was greeted to a Carrion Crow chorus, followed by a Male Blackbird that was clearly peeved with me for disturbing his morning, walking along the Sea wall, the Sun finally made an appearance, Looking onto the Mud flats of the Humber( I must invest in a Scope) I saw around a hundred Shellducks feeding in the Mud,alongside Curlew, RedShanks, Greenshanks, Herring gulls,Greater Blackback ,Lesser Blackback, Black headed Gulls witha a few Common Gulls.Sanderling and Turnstone also flitting here and there. On the Land side of the wall i encountered a Wren, Blackbird,Collard Dove, Ferral Pigeon, Meadow Pippit, Starlingand Reed Bunting .all seen in around an hour, I really must get out more, Watch this space... B :)
