Drawing & Painting Birds

'Drawing & Painting Birds' - with over 400 illustrations by artists such as CF Tunnicliffe, Bruce Pearson, John Busby and Robert Bateman, plus several from our very own 'Home Stable' here on Birdforum has (at last) been released by the publisher The Crowood Press; (http://www.crowoodpress.co.uk/detail...Painting-Birds)
Review copies may be requested via Julie Sankey ([email protected])
The book aims to offer practical advice pertaining to the portrayal of birds; practical excercises and discusson about technique and approach.
Available directly from The Crowood Press and from WHSmith, Waterstones, Amazon and (as they always say) all other good bookshops.
Also signed copies are available from my blog; www.tim-wootton.blogspot.com

Well, to my disappointment, this book didn't arrive for Christmas 2010, but it has just appeared (albeit somewhat tardily) for my 2011 birthday. Absolutely first class - superb paintings (many by Tim himself) and numerous tips on how to draw birds. In my view by far the best book on the topic I've seen. So well deserving of a pre-Christmas 'bump.' Unfortunately, though, it shares with all books of its ilk one serious drawback; the artwork is so good it depresses me just how poor my scribbles are and puts me off actually doing anything! But then that's a flaw in me, not the book. Even, or perhaps particularly if you've no ambitions to draw birds get the book for the numerous stunning drawings, paintings etc.

Well done Tim,

Is this book recommended for persons wanting to start drawing birds?
