Shooting banned in Albanian National Park (1 Viewer)

If you go on BBC iPlayer and search for the first programme of a new series, Mediterranean with Simon Reeve, fast forward to 53minutes into the programme, you'll find an interesting piece about the Karavasta National Park in Albania.
The government banned shooting there and Pelican numbers have since trebled.
Simon interviews a dedicated warden who resisted requests and bribes to shoot there. It also shows him helping the warden launch buoys to demarcate a no-fishing area within the reserve area.
Quite a heartening little piece, with the usual caveat of the continued threat to this wetland site. He also makes an impassioned point about the amount of bird shooting which goes on, unchecked, in Europe.

Too right about the shooting. I couldn't believe the number of shotgun shells I've seen in one or two national parks in the Med, it looked as though a small war had been fought there.
