Hi,

This is the second part of my April bird footages from Gölbaşı-Ankara which consist of a rare wagtail species (for Turkey) the "Citril Wagtail", five Yellow Wagtail subspecies (two of them are very rare for Turkey) and two common wetland birds (Common Sandpiper and Moorhen). Among tousands of birds, in tree consequtive days, I have taken these rare (sub)species selectively. Best Wishes.

Thank you very much, Jan.

Ultra long focal length (or exreme videoscoping) gives me the chance to take these birds freely without hiding myself. It is a nice method of bird videography. Best wishes.

Jan,

I use Hasselblad TeleApo Tessar 500mm f8 lens together with Showtime adapter (as an eyepiece) and Panasonic TM700 camcorder. This combination gives me 6300mm focal length (circa 126x). Birds were 15-25 m away from me. At that distance, birds tolarate the observer. In other words, I can fulframe smaller birds without passing the bird's "safety distance". Previously I tested almost all famous branded spotting scope for videoscoping. None of them gave me this qualitiy. If you carefully look to the even the best and sharpest videoscoping footages from spotting scopes, you will notice, the lack of detail of the birds i.e. color gradation and contrast. People take it for granted, since there are not much good samples. If you use a good telephoto lens for videoscoping instead of a spotting scope, the only limitation factor will be your camera's sensor technology. I plan to replace my 3 years old Pana TM700 camcorder with a new Sony AX100 4K camcorder. But I am very satisfied with my videoscoping lens combination. Best wishes.
