Post Storms blowing Arctic birds south (BBC News)

Recent storms blow a record number of seabirds, more used to the Arctic Circle down to the Northumberland coast.

More from BBC News...
I gather the latest news from the birding world and post it for discussion.

The BBC are so good at turning facts into something not quite right. The Farnes do not see only 100 little auks in a normal year. We get good numbers right along this coast after any good northerly blow at this time of year, possibly not in the numbers experienced in the last week, but certainly in the thousands. We would be surprised if they weren't there!

See this local birder's blog for a more realistic view. Take note of the entry for 6th November - and this was written before the influx.
