Mongolia (1 Viewer)

Terelj NP and Hustai are great for first timers (with great wild flowers, butterflies and mammals too). There are also some sites very close to UB as well. (have seen Azure and white-crowned Penduline Tits within UB city limits (along the Tuul river - easy walking from the Winter Palace of the Bogd Khan). There are sites near UB which are good for Azure-winged magpie too.
It's a fascinating country - enjoy!

Thank you for the info.* We were lucky to locate a very good local birder who has a full time job with the airport bird control department.* He is unwilling to have his name and number posted though.*

We emailed the academic organizations in Mongolia to get his name.

We visited the pools and wooded areas around UB airport. One really need a guide to show you where to access the pools. However,* for the wooded area,* go to Tuul Riverside Lodge, which is also great for a western breakfast after early birding.

We hired a driver with a sedan reasonable rate. The driver happily drove away though we really think a 4x4 is needed. The young driver is great,* always on time and answered email and WhatsApp almost instantly. He was happy to have his phone posted (Enda +976 9990 4242).
