Difference between 8x32 EL Swaro and non Swaro (1 Viewer)

Last year I bought a pair of 8x32 EL bins which I really like. Having read such great things about the Swaro version I wondered if those of you who have used both versions could advise me whether it is worth the cost to upgrade.

This question is already being kicked around in two or three other threads now, although not specifically for the 8x32. I imagine much of what is being said applies equally to all sizes. You might look through those, and if you don't see the answer you need, jump into one of those discussions.

Unfortunately, that thread become subsumed in the normal 8x32 SE debate. So before I address the OP's original question, the SE's are superb and a real bargain at £499 from Clifton cameras.

So the advantages of the SV version IMHO:

Sharper (although how much sharper may well depend on how old the version you have is of the original 8x32 EL)
Better resolution (as above)
Brighter (as above)
Much better eye relief
Lighter

They are outstanding binoculars

but are they better ENOUGH to justify the cost of trading up?

I think that is the question.
I have the old EL 8.5x42,
had brief look at the new,
was impressed, but not enough to change.

You need to compare both side by side,
look at the cost of trade up,
then decide.
For me the answer was no, but for many -yes
