The slow start to spring 2013 can be seen in the weekly Garden BirdWatch records for butterflies. Garden butterflies were on the wing up to four-weeks later than they were in either 2011 or 2012 but, overall, peak activity was only a little delayed. The hot spell of early July has set things up rather better for the autumn generation, as Garden BirdWatch results reveal.
