Camera upgrade time! (1 Viewer)

Hi! I've been getting into photography a lot recently and I've been looking into buying a better camera and upgrading from my current Sony DSC-HX60. I was wondering - I got this camera as a gift a few years back, so if I was to sell it would I have to pay income tax on it? I am self employed and sort my own taxes out, which is why I'm worrying a bit more. Anyone here have an idea?

Also - looking at getting a more modular camera, most likely DSLR. Any particular recommendations under £500? Would love to stick with Sony as I am a bit of a fanboy but will consider other offers ;)
