So sorry but the photos I took didnt come our well.

This was near my home at Lee cove , near ilfracombe just as tide had turned .

Best description was a coastal wader , brown,sandy & white ,black beak about 13 cm. To me, it looked like a little Stint but I think I'm the wrong part of the country . A Temminicks Stint?

Wouldn't be Temminck's. Extremely rare and usually associated with fresh water. Can you attach pics? Common Sandpiper?
 
Summer plumaged Sanderling? They are very different from the birds we see in winter (back in the 70's one was, originally, accepted as a Red-necked Stint - on Fair Isle! ).
