McChesney's Masked Lark (1 Viewer)

Björn Bergenholtz

(former alias "Calalp")

Minor addition on ...

mcchesneyi as in:
• the subspecies Spizocorys personata mcchesneyi WILLIAMS 1957 as "Aëthocorys personata mcChesneyi " (types collected in June 1955):
... in honour of Colonel Donald S. McChesney, who was my enthusiastic companion in exploring the Marsabit plateau and the waterless lava wastes of the Dida Galgalla desert.
= the US ornithologist, Colonel Donald S. McChesney (18951983), who (togeher with his wife Marian) also participated in two expeditions to Kenya (1956 in association with Cornell and in 1957 in the joint auspices of Cornell and the BMNH) ... etc., etc.

Snippet view of his Death note (here), published in The Living Bird Quarterly (No.2-3), 1983.

And just for the fun of it; an earlier page, with an article on the McChesney couple, from the Newspaper Post-Standard, of Syracuse, New York, 1963 is found, here.

Enjoy!

Björn
