Weekend in Scotland (1 Viewer)

Hi all

Can anyone offer some advice on where would be best as a base for a weekend in Scotland that would offer the best "bang for my buck"? I'm looking at probably going around late April.:t:

Cheers
Raggy.

Speyside should be a good option e.g. for forest birds, grouse, raptors etc. Might be a bit early for some things (e.g. Dotterel) but the same would be true wherever you go. Also, in Speyside you're near the Moray coast where at that time of year you should have a good chance for White-billed Diver (around Portsoy), as well as other divers, Black Guillemot etc.

Other good places at that time of year would be Mull or Islay, but it depends what you want to see.

As a base: Inverness, especially if you are flying in and then hiring a car. Cairngorms, Speyside, Findhorn valley, Moray coast, Black Isle dolphins. Good road access to the west coast as well.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Speyside should be great
