Ever see the orange on a Orange-crowned Warbler! (1 Viewer)

I think what your photo shows is just a hint of the orange crown. The 2-3 times I've seen it--always in my back yard when the bird bows its head to drink--it's invariably shown as a well-defined narrow patch not an orangish smear as in your photo. Anyway, unusual to get even hint of the orange.

nice capture BO47!

once every couple of years, in spring migration, we will see a couple of males fussing and chasing each other around, and at that times the orange topnotch feathers are raised right in the middle of the head, and quite conspicuous.

really rare occurrence though, and always a treat to see on this otherwise quite drab warbler!

thanks for sharing the shot,

UTC
