There were some exceptional flight shots in this comp and it was hard making a decision.

Considering the difficulty of taking flight shots (well I think so anyway) there a number of superb shots in this month's comp - choosing one to vote for was hard. It is a great privelege that we can share these photos through BirdForum.

It is good to see a choice of how to view the entries.Thankyou Mods.Sometimes the way to view through a slide show only, just took so long.Yes,all entries really are of the highest calibre.

I always make a list of photos I might vote for as I go through the slideshow.

Had 10 written down when I finished, then ended up voting for the 11th! Go figure!

What a terrific comp! Really superb pictures!

Excellent series of flight shots. I found it very difficult to choose; I struggled to reduce the field to a top 3 then really struggled to choose one. Perhaps the flight theme could be repeated in 6-9 months as it has attracted some cracking entries.

I agree with your comments it was very difficult: pin-sharp v 'motion blur' and single bird v flock. The one I eventually chose has several votes but my very close runner-up has none so I wish I'd gone for that just for the encouragement of the photographer concerned.

And yes we should have another 'flight' category soon - it's what birds are best-known for, after all!

I must agree with Steve G and Adey: this comp theme has produced some really marvelous photos and is worth repeating -- perhaps on a regular basis? Quarterly?

The photographers who have captured such wonderful shots are worth all the encouragement we can give.

I would like two rounds to the voting - let people vote once for their five favorites and then a couple days later take the top five and let people vote among those - 55 - 100 is a lot to pick just one.

I struggled to get it down to three then finally choose one mostly because of the background. A lot of great shots here, I wonder if newly available gear has anything to do with it. I noted that DSLRs were used for my final three.

Just a thought for future competitions . . . .

There's two pics, both labelled 'tree swallow'. Fortunately, one is capitalised, the other isn't - but should a new rule come in just to ensure that an entry cannot have the same name as an existing entry?

I agree that similar titles could cause an unfortunate misunderstanding. I suggest however, that the picture be identified by photographer rather then title. I know I don't spend much time and effort in the titles, but I've gotten used to seeing the photographers name in the gallery and missed that in the slide show. Just a thought.

Excelent entries this month. I went for one of a more common bird. I think it is important that you don't need photos of rare birds to do well.

Looks like I will end up with no votes yet again. Need to get out more and practice I guess.
