Black bird ID help - Portland, OR, USA

Hi!

We saw this black bird on July 3 in Portland, Oregon.

Thought it was a raven or crow, but it seems to have a white stripe on its wing.

Any suggestions? We were only visiting Portland, so not familiar with the local birds.

Looks like a crow to me. It's not super unusual for crows to have one or two white feathers, but I think it's more likely that spot is caused by lighting or bird droppings.

Carrion Crows in the UK (particularly in urban areas) quite frequently have white feathers in the wings, often in kind of ragged/messy looking stripes, due to wear and poor nutrition causing pigment loss. I imagine the same thing can happen with American Crows.
