Owl Encounter! (1 Viewer)

Hi all!:flowers::flowers::hi:

Last Friday the doggies and I were ~hanging out~ near the compost bin as we had spent allll day tidying the area. Mike had gone inside a few minutes earlier as his knee was bothering him.

The dogs were tired and slept deeply. Suddenly ... not eight feet away from me landed a Screech Owl! She looked at me but seemed unconcerned as she did her full range of turning her head to watch for potential dinner in the area. After perhaps 5 minutes she took off and flew into the larger weeping willow.

Not a sound when she arrived or when she left. Even the dogs were unaware of her visit.

Later that evening I heard a Screech Owl call. Wonder if it was her?

(I refer to the Owl as "she" only because the bird was so pretty and elegant, she HAD to be a 'she'.) LOL!

What a fantastic encounter :t:

I think the male is smaller than the female. Perhaps it was the handsome and dapper male ;)

Perhaps the Owl was a He. No matter ... a VERY handsome, dapper, pretty bird indeed and a very thrilling experience!

I have heard the Screech Owls calling at night and also heard a Great Horned Owl too! WOW!!!

Many many bats flying about lately as well. Don't know what kind of bats though.
