Hi all,

We are visiting the Inverness area in feb for a few days - have visited the area before and so am reasonably familiar with some sites, however never at this time of year before.

Based on recommendations I have ordered Gordon Hamlett’s guide with whats left of my Christmas money

The plan was, conditions allowing, to visit Caringorm for a days skiing so was going to check out that area anyway.

I have read many pieces of advice about the Findhorn Valley - is this a case of drive along valley with eyes scanning sky or is it better to park up with scope out?

Are Insh Marshes worth a visit this time of year?
Is it too early in the year for the different divers and grebes?

apologies for the many questions!

cheers

Have you thought about the north side of the Black Isle Phil, there's a hide there at Jemimaville.

Get the tides right and you should get great views of some sea ducks etc. Long-tailed Ducks love it there.

You can't go wrong with GH's book with you, Phil. As far as Findhorn Valley is concerned, there are very few places to pull in anyway. There's a parking area about half way along the road and a car park at the end. But if you choose a good spot to stop you can usually see cars coming both ways.

This drive is an absolute delight.
