Galloway...? (1 Viewer)

To error is human
Couldn't find it in the Scotland section and couldn't decide where was closest so decided to post here in the hope someone can set me straight o:D

Can't believe Galloway has been missed out- must be part of a bigger section coz Galloway has LOADS of birding potential :t:

Anyway I was wondering if anyone can give me some good places in Galloway to go Birding- I've been already to the Red Kite feeding station in Castle Douglas (a few times lol) and the Red Kite Trail around the Ken Dee marshes etc. and know of a few RSPB reserves- but haven't had time yet

So can anyone give me some good info from experiences in some places? Really up for any birds :t:

Thanks for any help

You're right, for some reason it's been missed off. We've stayed there a few times now and as you say there's plenty of birding areas around.

It's listed in Opus - http://www.birdforum.net/opus/Scotland - though not a great deal of locations.

There's a few more mentioned on these links - http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=50034&highlight=Galloway and http://www.birdforum.net/search.php?searchid=3739651 though a more general search for Dumfries and Galloway will bring back loads of hits.

I dare it depends on when you plan to go. We usually visit April/May or early June. RSPB Wood of Cree still brings back fond memories as well as the Wigtown Ospreys and the hide in the bay.
