Acuter Grand Vista DS80 Tripod advice. (1 Viewer)

I used the Redsnapper tripod on my Celestron Regal 80 F-ED scope and found it very good, stable, cheap and not too heavy. I used it with the Velbon PH-157Q pan head. I also used the Celestron with the Velbon Sherpa 200 which was also very good and appeared a little lighter. See links below.

Hi,

good guidelines are:

- a maximum allowed load of double the weight of your scope, EP and camera if any. Applicable for legs and head.

- fewer leg sections are preferable to more for better stability - but of course the package gets larger.

- ideally the tripod legs are long enough to use the scope comfortably with the column down. If that's not possible a few centimeters are better than fully extended.

- click-lock or twist-lock are a matter of preference, aluminum or carbon a matter of money...

- regarding head, whatever works best for you - most prefer a fluid head.
