I bought this yesterday in Waterstones and it seems just right for me, it includes lots of useful tips about similar sounding species that don't seem to be mentioned elsewhere. Good coverage of the 'cheese' and 'cheese, please' variations of the Yellowhammer.

Adrian is very good at explaining things at the right level. I've seen him deep in conversation with experienced birders on abstruse subjects, and later the same day giving a talk to absorbed children. I'm not surprised that his books are so useful.
