La Gomera February 212

Hi when I was on La Gomera this February I saw a pair of birds up in the Forest area but have been unable to identify them, can anybody help please.

Hi Richard,

It is indeed a Chaffinch, but of the form canariensis, which is only found on the Canary Islands. African Chaffinch (spodiogenys) looks similar, both being quite different from the Chaffinches we get here in the UK. They are currently only subspecies of the nominate race.
