ID (4) - Fort Myers, Florida and Corscrew Swamp, Florida

Four for you to identify. They are probably really basic to identify for people who know their stuff, but I'm just a soul who likes taking photos, even if I don't know who/what the subject is!

Although from the UK, I'm based in Miami, Florida at the moment, so here's two taken at Corkscrew Swamp nr Naples, Florida.

And two taken at Fort Myers Beach, Florida

I'll take a shot:

1. Barred Owl
2. Red-shouldered Hawk
3. Boat-tailed Grackle, female?
4. Sanderling

I agree with the first three, however, the last one does seem to have a hind toe, which excludes sanderling. Without books around me at the moment, I am not prepared to go further.

Hi Neils,

I can't actually tell which leg is left or right, but I think what you are seeing is the toe pointing right from the splayed rearward 'foot' (either inner toe of left 'foot' or outer toe of right 'foot'). The forward placed 'foot' shows no hindtoe. I would agree with Sanderling.

I agree with Tim et.al.

Nice photos, especially of the red-shoulder.
