Hi,

I will be in the area soon and wondered if anybody can offer recommendations on the best pelagic and cetacean operators?

We will be birding and have been trying to locate the Portuguese equivalent of " birdline/ birdguides etc. without success; any suggestions are much appreciated.

I will be using Dave Gosney's super booklet to get me some birds........

My thanks/ Mike

For pelagics and dolphins etc (other cetaceans not reliable) I would always go from Sagres with Mar Ilimitado or Cape Cruiser.

There isn't a birdline but there is a rare birds facebook page for the Algarve - and an email group - but info from that will appear on the facebook page too so for a visit probably not worth joining up for.

Add to your Gosney guide with this hefty pdf: https://www.facebook.com/groups/115256975331612/ Its on sale in book form at some tourist booths too.

I would personally recommend, at this time of year, covering the Sagres peninsula area well - at least 2 days/visits.

4th - 8th October is the Sagres Bird Festival and there are pelagic trips on offer from the 2 companies I mentioned for a discount price.
