Dear All,

I saw this bird of the Waterford Coast last week and was thinking it was a Slav Grebe. Do you reckon that is correct?

Regards

Steven

As you initially thought it is a grebe (and not a Cormorant as suggested). To me it looks more like a Black-necked Grebe, stating to moult into breeding plumage. Note the apparant rounded crown and fine bill with an 'upturned' appearance.

Cheers
Paul
