Voting Booth - April 2007 - Theme: Perched Bird

We had 108 entries this month which makes this one of the most popular themes for quite a while. It also made selection of the entries for the voting booth even more difficult than usual. We could easily have had double the number of entries in the voting booth, the standard was so high. However after much discussion and regrading, 30 have been selected for the voting booth.

Due to a software upgrade this is likely the last time the competition will be held in this format as the new Gallery - soon to be upgraded - has it's own facility for running competitions.

For this month though please select your favourite entry for the theme - Perched Bird.

Entries can be viewed as -

Entries will remain in place until completion of voting after which they will be moved to their appropriate forums.

Every month I have a hard time trying to figure out which one is my "winner" picture, but this time it was a nightmare! I'm still thinking that I had at least a dozen of winners there!
You all did a great job and the overall quality was surprising. Good luck to you all and let's hope that as we had so many entries this month, we will also have lots of voters!! :)

The quality of the entries usually puts me off entering, although I did this time to no avail.

I am surprised at the relatively small number of voters each month considering the size of the site's traffic. Anyway, I've cast my vote after many changes of mind.

Good luck all!

So difficult to find a fav.So decided to opt for the theme of the comp,ie perch,as opposed to the bird-hope this makes sense.

Wow! tough choice! Came down to one eventually. I'm with Phil on this one, given the large membership of BF, how come more people do not vote?

Extremely hard vote this month. All are excellent entries and wonderful photos. Finally made a decision, but it was tough! Congrats to all who made the final and good luck to all.

I have a problem viewing the slideshow. It starts off fine but only shows the first 16, then it stops so I don't see the rest. Anyone else got this problem, I tried it a few days ago when BF first came back online and again today, it happened both times.

It was working fine prior to the upgrade but something has goosed it (pardon the pun). I can't get it to work at all now - so we'll stick with just the thumbnail view until voting closes.

Narrowed the choice down to 4 or 5 and that was hard enough but then things got really difficult. Finally cast my vote so I'm heaving a huge sigh of relief!

Announcing the winners of the April 2007 photo competition

From 108 entries this month 30 were selected for inclusion in the voting booth - a very difficult task in itself with there being so many first rate entries.

122 members cast their vote for their favourite photo and with so many good entries it's not too surprising that votes were evenly spread.

The winner this month is LucH with the entry Bluethroat which attracted 20/122 votes cast.

Runner up is Deanneart with Ice Magic attracting 13/122 votes.

Third placed is redeyedvideo with Snowy-bellied Hummingbird with 10 votes.

Congratulations to each of you and thank you to everyone who entered and took their time to cast their vote.

Details of next months competition will follow in a couple of days at which time the entries will be moved to their appropriate forums.

To a very deserving winner. Also to 2nd and 3rd place. Felt lucky just to be in the 30 that went to the final vote.
Great comp this month.
