Firefox 8 stopped working (1 Viewer)

I have a Mac running OS X 10.5.8 and have been using Firefox 8 for a couple of weeks with no problems. However, today it is refusing to start up and hangs with the spinning 'beachball' until I force quit. I tried deleting it from the applications folder and downloading and reinstalling it but it still won't work. Safari is running perfectly. Has anybody else been experiencing problems with it or have any suggestions as to what is wrong?

Thanks, Ron.

Hi Ron

Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? From there you can disable all/any extensions and tabs that might be causing the problem.

There's a Mozilla forum that may be able to advise further.

Thanks Delia. I tried to start it in safe mode but it still won't start. I will see if there is a way to clear the preferences, history etc. without it running.
