It was cold with the first blue sky of the year! Most of the surface water was frozen with temperatures falling to -10°C last night.

Went to the eastern panhandle of West Virginia this morning to chase a Snowy Owl that had been reported there. I easily found my target, as well as another new bird for the year, bringing me up to 97.

It’s a little early, but this evening I went out to see if the woodcocks have started displaying. I did find one lone bird, getting great looks in the spotlight.
