Zermatt, home of the Matterhorn, is great for skiing but also snowfinches, alpine accentor, golden eagles, nutcrackers - further down the valley at Leuk, wallcreepers are a possibility even in winter:

I like this style, there are not so many birds in the Alps in the winter, but rare birds are possible.
I prefer ski tours. I did 31 this year, maybe another one next weekend.
